Okay, I'm not that drunk, but three glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon on top of cold tablets totally counts.  *nods*  And look, I can still spell!  So I'm good.

ANYWAY.  When I was at Azkatraz many eons ago back in July, a comment on the HD fanfic panel bugged me.  It was suggested that short fics were not worthy - that emotional characterization cannot be created in fewer than 30,000 words.  Everyone on the panel seemed to agree with this and I absolutely did not.

Granted, I definitely enjoy a meaty long fic, in which we can learn of the boys' past, of their struggles, of their gradual attraction to each other, but I will certainly not disparage a lovely short fic in which the author can deliver a very satisfying emotional jolt in just a few words.  Hell, I've read 100 word DRABBLES that were wrenching and exquisite.

What do you think?  Is it impossible to deliver satisfying backstory and emotional drama in less than 10k?  Examples would be fab.

Apparently, sometimes I think better when drinking...

LOL!
