Trying to catch up!  WOOT!

Stephen watched the single headlight in his rear view mirror, careful not to run any red lights or get too far ahead of Adam, who knew where he lived, but still, it was past midnight and he might forget.

He still couldn't quite believe he had invited Adam home.  On a work night.  What was he thinking?  He put his foot on the brake and eased the car to a stop at a red light.  The motorcycle pulled up next to him and Adam gave him a thumbs up with one gloved hand.  Then he pointed his index finger at Stephen, made a cupping motion with his hand between his legs and moved it in a suggestive gesture, and then pointed at himself.

Stephen burst out laughing.  The light changed and Adam gunned the motorcycle forward like a rocket.  To Stephen's amazement, the front wheel came completely off the ground and Adam rode it with only the rear tire to propel it forward, balancing it like a pro.  His lips twisted in a smile of admiration as he shot the car forward to catch up with the crazy daredevil.

"He'd better not kill himself," Stephen muttered.  He was relieved when the front wheel touched back to the ground with a minimum of heart-stopping shimmy from the bike.  He vowed to have a chat with Adam about what happened to bad boys who frightened him out of ten years of his life.

Adam returned to his position behind the Audi as they neared Stephen's house and he parked the bike in the driveway as Stephen pulled into the garage.  He dismounted as Stephen exited the car, but Stephen waved at him to drive the bike inside.  He normally left the right side of the garage open for Aunt Jolene, but if she happened to show up tonight, by some bizarre fluke, she could park in the drive.

He shut the garage door as Adam took off his helmet and set it on the seat of the bike.  Stephen grinned at his hair.  It was in complete disarray from gel, sweat, helmet compression, and even a bit of glitter.

Adam pouted.  "Shush, you, I know how I look."

Stephen's grin widened, because he doubted very much that Adam knew how he looked, which was positively edible.  His niggling worry about bringing Adam home suddenly dissolved with the realization that it felt absolutely perfect.

"You look like a stuffed animal."

Adam moved closer and Stephen chuckled as he opened the door and stepped into the hallway with Adam following.  "A what?" Adam asked.

"You know, like a teddy bear.  The kind that gets carried around by a child and dragged through the dirt, and gnawed on by the dog until one eye dangles from a thread and finally goes missing."

"You're really not very good at this romance thing, are you?"

"What I mean is that the grungy, torn bear is still very lovable and precious," Stephen said, blundering onward to make his point.  He tossed his keys on the kitchen counter in their usual place and turned to find himself in Adam's sudden embrace.

"Maybe you aren't completely hopeless after all," Adam admitted and kissed him.
