Equity Part Thirty

Adam relaxed in Stephen's arms and felt his tension melt away. He should have known Stephen wouldn't look down his nose at his humble surroundings. Well, maybe he shouldn't have known, because he barely knew the man, despite the stalking. But, still...
"Are we going to eat?" Stephen asked while nibbling on his neck.
Adam would happily toss the burgers in the trash and drag Stephen down the hall to sate a different sort of hunger, but he also wanted to show Stephen that he had a modicum of restraint. "Of course," he said smoothly and dragged himself away from the blond to busy himself opening the bags. He went to the kitchen, which was open to the tiny dining area, and retrieved plates and glasses. He made a show of placing the food onto plates and then pouring the soft drinks into the glasses.
"Monsieur," he said smoothly.
Stephen had seated himself in the metal folding chair. He smiled and said something in French, making Adam blanch.
"Seriously? You speak French, too?"
Stephen smiled. "I can't sing," he admitted.
Adam pouted, but seated himself in the plastic chair across from Stephen. "For all you know, I can't sing, either."
Stephen reached across the table and touched his hand, sliding his fingers over Adam's knuckles. His violet eyes were soft. "I'd like to hear you sing, sometime."
Adam's heart leaped and he quickly grabbed his drink to suck down some Coke, hoping to cover his silly blush. After several swallows, he set the glass down. "Let's just eat before it gets cold, okay?" he muttered.
Stephen sat back with a chuckle and dove into his burger and fries, eating like a normal person, much to Adam's relief. Stephen might have been used to filet mignon and champagne, but he could still put down a burger like a regular Joe, using the tiny paper napkins like he ate with them every day.
Adam thought maybe he was the one behaving like a jerk when it came to preconceptions regarding Stephen. He decided to start working on that.
"Want to watch a movie when we're done, or do you have somewhere to be?" he asked, trying not to sound too hopeful.
Stephen pondered, as though mentally reviewing his busy calendar. Adam finally threw a fry remnant at him, hitting him in the chest. Stephen laughed. "All right, no. I don't have anywhere to be. Which movie? Some romantic chick flick?"
Adam tossed another fry, this time pinging it off his forehead.
"Hey!" Stephen yelped. He shoved his chair back and stood up, looking threatening. Adam leaped up, but pelted him several more times as he circled the table, keeping it between him and the blond, who growled and tried to head him off, but Adam bolted for the living room.
Stephen caught him just as he reached the couch, and they both tumbled onto the black leather.
"You'll pay for that, Mister," Stephen said in a warning tone, pinning him face down against the cushions.
"I'm scared," Adam taunted with a low laugh.

Your Harry Potter fanfics are really quite good. I personally like the Brigandage, Wascally, High-Priced, and Teddy Ties.
As much as I like your HP Fanfic, I believe I like your original stories better. The Oneshot of Better than Coffee is a personal favorite.
I'll continue my happy stalking of Equity.
