I keep forgetting to post this! WTF???
Lorcan was tired of waiting. His parents had sent him back to Hogwarts, as if he could concentrate on his studies when his brother was missing! He was certain it had more to do with the fact that they wanted him out of his hair than anything, despite his mother’s assurances that she wanted to keep him safe.
The moment he had returned he was inundated with questions, mostly from Lily, of course. He told her everything he knew and found it something of a relief to talk about it. He had been trying to hold it together for the sake of his father and mother, but the strain was wearing on him.
“Clever,” Lily said when he finished telling her how Lysander had disappeared. “And well-planned. It’s obvious they didn’t care which one of you was taken, so that sort of leaves out a personal vendetta against one of you, yeah?”
Lorcan nodded. “We’ve determined that much.”
“Then it’s someone that wants revenge on your parents,” Lily decided. “So, with that in mind, Hugo and I enlisted the help of Rose and Scorpius and had them send us everything they could find that might involve your parents. I know my dad is on the case and if anyone can find Lysander, it’s him, but why should we sit around doing nothing, yeah?”
Lorcan had never had feelings for any girl, but at that moment he seriously considered hugging Lily Potter. The fleeting idea passed, thankfully, which probably saved him a fist in the ribs.
“We’ve laid everything out in the Room of Requirement and Abby and I made a list of the classes we plan to skive off in order to help you look.” She held up a parchment and Lorcan cocked a brow at her.
“Are there any classes left?” he asked.
She nodded. “Charms. I like that one. Oh, and I also have copies of all of Dad’s notes on the case.”
Lorcan stared at her. “How did you get those?”
She laughed. “Sorry. That information is classified.”
Lorcan shook his head. Lily would likely end up in the field of espionage when she left Hogwarts. Either that or she would start an international crime ring. He vowed to stay on her good side, just in case. “All right. I’ll tell everyone I’m staying in. I think I’ll go to Pomfrey and ask for a Sleeping Draught in order to convince them I’m resting. I’ll meet you in the Room of Requirement.”
Lily nodded and gave him a fake smile. “We’ll find him,” she said in a confident tone.
“We will,” Lorcan replied with far more certainty than he felt. At the moment it seemed like they were looking for a needle in a haystack. Lysander could be anywhere. His only comfort was the fact that his brother was far from stupid. He would be fine until Lorcan could locate him.
Lorcan repeated the words to himself over and over as he headed for the hospital wing.
