This next rec is actually two fics, but you can't really read one without the other because it's a ginormous saga of awesome. Most of my prior recs have been angsty as hell, followed by a very satisfying ending. This series is more of a slow-building love affair that, for me, expands and enriches the world created by JKR and follows our boys into adulthood and maturity.
Harry no longer has boyhood problems, but grownup problems. He has a new job and new friends, new irritants and new enemies. I love that his conflicts are not caused by an overwhelming evil wizard trying to destroy him, but instead by a terrible supervisor, a stressful workload, and the added complication of an old nemesis who isn't quite what he expected.
And Draco. *happy sigh* Draco has his own problems and it seems like nothing he does will ever be quite good enough, and yet HE JUST KEEP TRYING.
saras_girl throws these two amazing adults together and they start out just prickly enough to be interesting. And then they get to be friends. And finally more than friends. Their journey from former enemies to lovers is SO FUCKING GORGEOUS that this entire fic is like wrapping yourself up in a warm blanket of GUH. There are so many tiny things that made me sigh with bliss (the word "yes", the damned STRING, and the OMFG napkin rings, not to mention various office supplies...) NOW I WANT TO READ IT AGAIN. AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.
