I'm not a huge fan of creature fics. I like people and adding elements that make people non-people usually creates too much "otherness" for me to fully relate to the characters and I tend not to enjoy them as much. I was not even going to read this when it came through Hols, because that's just how much I don't like creature fics. I'm pretty sure

taradiane said something along the lines of reeeeeeaaaaadddd iiiiiiittttttt and so I grudgingly gave it a chance. Needless to say, I was blown away. When anyone asks me for a creature fic rec, I have a very very limited pool to choose from and this one is at the top of the stack.

Draco's urgency is communicated from the first moment, and his slide into full-blown panic. I was immediately catapulted with him into a situation that had me gripping the edges of my laptop with clammy fingers. And then... Dracoooooooo! *sobs* Can I just mention how much I love fics with plot? This wizarding world is not a happy, friendly place, but Draco has evolved into someone normally quite capable of dealing with it. At least until someone decides to do him a bad turn. And then, of course, enter our favourite hero. I really like this one.
